The passing of the Oscar-winning basketball legend has made the whole world stop.

Kobe Bryant, 41, died in a helicopter crash on Sunday, along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna. The sad news has left the world stunned. In response to the loss, there has been a flood of tributes from fans, mentees, and friends around the globe. We’re talking over 3.4 million mentions in just the last day for “Rip Kobe”.

Here are some of the heart-felt messages from the 49ers, who have just landed in Miami ahead of the Super Bowl game on Saturday.

Kobe was particularly influential in Richard Sherman’s life, especially during his recovery from an Achilles injury. Sherman refers to him as an “essential” part of his return to the field.
