The iconic Cake Picnic, which has brought thousands of cakes together in various parks around San Francisco (and many other cities around the country), is officially returning this fall. The wildly popular picnics started small, but now sell out in a matter of seconds, with hundreds of attendees at each event. The result is rows of tables covered in colorful, creative cakes, with attendees eager to try as many slices as they can get their hands on.
Cake Picnic October 2026

Organizers announced the Cake Picnic Fall 2026 tour, with the San Francisco event scheduled for October 31 from 11 am to 1 pm. The picnic will take over Levi’s Plaza in Downtown San Francisco, just a short walk from the Embarcadero. Tickets are currently on sale as of September 20 at 6 pm.
This year, organizers are also adding a Cookie Picnic the following day on November 1, 2026. The new picnic will also take place at Levi’s Plaza from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday.

To join one of the sugary picnics, you’ll need both a ticket and a dessert (the event’s motto is simple: No cake, No entry). Organizers emphasize that if you’re not a baker, bringing a store-bought cake is totally acceptable. Then, people get boxes to put their cake slices in and have several minutes to choose which slices they want to try.
The Cake Picnic’s fall tour will also make stops in New York and Los Angeles. Tickets go fast, so be sure to get yours soon.
