This weekend, SFMOMA’s highly anticipated collaboration with BTS’ RM officially opened. The exhibit features 142 works from RM’s expansive personal art collection, many created by Korean artists. Over 30 works from SFMOMA’s collection were added to complete the exhibition, which features eight distinct areas curated by RM.
RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me

The exhibition spans 1500 years, with works dating back to the 6th century. However, what truly stands out is how personal the exhibition is to RM. The K-Pop star carefully selected and organized works, sharing his interpretations and reactions in descriptions around the exhibit. Directions in RM’s handwriting are posted throughout the exhibition, further showing RM’s personal touch to the exhibit.
“While centered on modern and contemporary Korean art, RM’s collection encompasses the broader trajectory of art in Korea, from the 6th century to the present,” commented Hyoeun Kim, assistant curator of painting and sculpture at SFMOMA. “Through this collaboration with SFMOMA, it is especially meaningful to bring the depth and richness of his collection to a wider audience.”
Viewers can listen to an audio guide, available in English and Korean, while exploring the galleries. The exhibition opens on October 3, runs until February 7, 2027, and tickets are already selling fast. We recommend booking your tickets in advance to get your preferred date to see the exhibit. A ticket to Between You and Me also allows you to visit all the permanent galleries in the museum, including the recently reimagined Fisher collection.
