Next weekend, Sundown Cinema will host its final outdoor movie screening, perfect for getting in the Halloween mood. The free outdoor movie series draws major crowds, and this month’s movie is the beloved Tim Burton classic Beetlejuice. Here’s what to know.
Beetlejuice at Crane Cove Park

On Friday, October 16, Crane Cove Park will host a free screening of the classic Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice. The screening is the final part of the popular Sundown Cinema movie series, which returned for 2026 this June. Since then, the program has hosted popular outdoor screenings at parks across the city, often drawing major crowds for the wholesome events.
The movie starts after sunset, but we recommend arriving early to find a good spot. Bring a picnic blanket, warm layers, and some snacks to the park to best enjoy the movie.
Beetlejuice is a 1988 horror-comedy classic directed by Tim Burton, starring Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, and Alec Baldwin. The movie follows a family that moves into a home haunted by the recently deceased couple who previously lived there. The film has become a Halloween classic, and a highly anticipated sequel was released in 2024.
