The free concerts in San Francisco are continuing this Spring, with live music scheduled at the Golden Gate Bandshell multiple times a week, and a free EDM show coming to the Embarcadero. Now, San Franciscans can mark their calendars for another major free concert in Downtown San Francisco, this time in Union Square.
On May 2, 2026, Union Square will host a free techno concert from 4 to 8 pm. The lineup for the free show includes Joey Beltram, a DJ and record producer who has been in techno for decades. He is known for a distinctive synth pattern and has headlined major events such as Coachella and Dance Valley. The iconic DJ will perform a 2-hour set in Union Square.
The lineup will also include Max Gardner, a local techno DJ who has performed around the world. Adra, a producer and DJ known for all-hardware live performances, is also on the lineup. Finally, Zachary Noel, the co-founder of Free Techno, is also set to perform.
The show is free, and all ages are welcome. You don’t need a ticket to attend, and you can stop by for a few minutes or dance for the full four-hour show.
The concert is organized by Free Techno SF, an organization that creates free cultural programming, primarily techno concerts, to support the community and local artists. Last year, Free Techno hosted a concert at Salesforce Park, drawing hundreds of attendees.
The exciting free concert is just one of many activities San Franciscans can look forward to in Union Square this spring. The plaza will host free weekly activities, including sketching lessons, cardio dance workouts, chess lessons, and more. You can find the full schedule of free activities in Union Square here.
