iPhone users now have it a *bit* easier thanks to iOS 15, Apple’s latest update allowing users to upload Covid vaccination records into Apple Wallet. This means your proof of vaccination is just as accessible as a plane ticket or Apple Pay when you need to display it at restaurants, bars, events, or wherever else you may be asked.
Users can also now upload their test results and records to the Health app, although only the vaccination record itself may be added to Apple Wallet. The records are “digitally signed by a vaccine or test result provider,” meaning they essentially carry an official seal. If you already have a SMART Health Card, it’s as easy as adding that QR Code to Apple Wallet so you don’t have to fish around for it! If you don’t have one, see our guide for getting your physical vaccine card in digital form.
There are 3 ways to add your vaccination record to Apple Wallet:
QR Code
- Using your phone’s camera, scan the QR code given to you by your vaccination site (or a physical SMART Health Card if you have one)
- Tap the Health app notification that pops up.
- Tap “Add to Wallet & Health.” Your vaccination record will now be accessible both in the Health app and Apple Wallet.
Downloadable file
- If you received a downloadable file (for example, your SMART Health Card) from your vaccination site, open it and tap the download link.
- Tap “Add to Wallet & Health.” Your vaccination record will now be accessible both in the Health app and Apple Wallet.
From Health app
- If you already have your vaccination record stored in your Health app, go to the app.
- Tap “Summary” and find “Vaccination Record.”
- Tap “Add to Wallet.” Your vaccination record will now be accessible both in Apple Wallet.
Once your vaccination card is uploaded to Apple Wallet, you can open and view it at any time. It shows your name, vaccine type, dates the vaccine was administered, and the QR code. Full details will be visible upon unlocking your phone.
You can also add verifiable health records, i.e. Covid tests, to the Health app. Download them using a QR code or downloadable file, just as you would the vaccination record. You can also connect to your health provider directly in the health app if they support Health Records on iPhone.
Are you an Android user? You can add your Covid vaccination record via Google Pay.
