Live drag and movies at Balboa Theater
This Thursday, June 25, the theater is hosting a screening of the popular comedy film Bottoms, complete with a live drag performance. Bottoms is a comedy directed by Emma Seligman, starring Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri, who start a high school fight club for girls. The screening and performance will be hosted by local performer Dot Comme, and the show starts at 7 pm. The screening is part of the Girlie Movie Club, which hosts movies and live drag at the Balboa Theater on select evenings. Past movies in the club included Drop Dead Gorgeous and D.E.B.S.
The Girlie Movie Club isn’t the only fun screening series at the historic theater. You can also catch a late-night showing of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show on the last Saturday of every month. You can also see other special events, such as a Julia Carmen retrospective and Godzilla Fest.
