Every year, Condé Nast Traveler compiles a list of the best hotels in the world, as decided by their readers. The eclectic list includes luxurious hotels from around the world, from the remote Fogo Island Inn in Newfoundland, Canada, to the Ritz Carlton in New York. For the second year in a row, the top spot on the list was a scenic, family-owned lodge surrounded by nature right here in the Bay Area.

The Lodge at Bodega Bay is located on the Sonoma Coast, with beautiful views of Bodega Bay. The coastal lodge is a secluded, peaceful retreat just over an hour from San Francisco. Rooms often come with patios or cozy fireplaces, and the outdoor fire pits at the lodge offer a picturesque view of the bay. Fittingly, the hotel offers a spa, an outdoor pool, and a well-equipped fitness center. Guests often take nature walks around the property, taking in the iconic California coast beauty before ending the day with dinner at the hotel’s chic restaurant, Drakes. For a more casual meal, you can head outside to the Fireside Lounge, sampling a menu with options like salmon sliders, hamachi crudo, and more.
“To be voted as the best hotel in the world by readers of Condé Nast Traveler for the second year in a row is an extraordinary honor. As a family-owned and operated hotel, we take great pride in the craft of authentic hospitality, and this recognition means so much to us. From all of us at the Lodge, thank you for your trust, loyalty, and support. You inspire us every day to keep offering the warm, genuine hospitality that defines who we are. ” Said the hotel online after the release of the coveted list.

This isn’t the first time the hotel has been honored on the coveted list; it also earned the top spot last year. The lodge has been placed on the list several times since 2017, and continues to be a favorite for travelers. You can see the full list of Conde Nast’s best hotels here.
