1. Clement Nursery
Located on the site of an old dairy farm from 1904, Clement Nursery has been providing excellent plants and more since it was founded 80 (yes, 80) years ago. Visit one of Richmond’s oldest structures and browse a variety of unique and wonderful plants.

2. Flowercraft Garden Center
This beautiful garden center in the industrial district has been thriving since 1974. They offer everything from Christmas trees to succulents, and they have pandemic shopping hours on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30am for seniors and those with compromised immune systems.

3. Sloat Garden Center
Sloat Garden Center has 13 locations across San Francisco, Marin and Contra Costa counties, making it the largest independent, locally owned garden store in the Bay Area. Sloat has been around since 1958 and provides quality gardening equipment, soil, and of course plants to SF locals and beyond.

4. SF Plants
SF Plants is an addition to the 2-decades-old Bella Fiora A Floral Design Studio, helmed by SF native Dino and Irishman Mark. Their location will be expanding by 1,500 square feet in March, so be sure to enjoy an even larger selection soon! Order a stunning floral arrangement or pick out a beautiful houseplant for yourself.

5. Roots
Roots specializes in indoor plants for the urban gardener. 6. Hortica
This full-service nursery in the Castro district has been around for 25 years. It has over 240 flats of flowers, seasonal plants, fruit-bearing trees, carnivorous plants, and more. The knowledgeable staff at Hortica will help you identify problems with your own plants and help you navigate their bountiful selection of indoor and outdoor options.

7. Flora Grubb Gardens

Flora Grubb Gardens boasts an enormous selection of gorgeous garden plants, trees, pots, planters, garden furniture, and much more. It’s named for Flora Grubb, a self-taught gardener from Texas who joined forces with her business partner Saul Nadler to open this expansive nursery in the Bayview district. Two decades later, it’s a thriving garden nursery complete with a Ritual Coffee kiosk (coffee kiosk temporarily closed due to the pandemic).

8. Living Green Design
Living Green Design is a beautiful store offering garden sculptures, lush plants, landscaping services, and more. It’s home to award-winning landscape designers with an eye for high-quality plant and material selection. Clients’ opinions, needs and interests are carefully considered for each purchase, big or small.

9. Succulence
Succulence Life and Garden is a one-of-a-kind plant store offering a wide selection of, well, succulents… plus much more! You can have a virtual shopping experience via Zoom with one of their knowledgeable staff members, or join a virtual plant party. There are also gardening classes available, as well as a planting bar. Be sure to take a look at their beautiful Moss Walls, which are unique pieces of organic art.

10. Paxton Gate
This eccentric store is home to a large collection of taxidermy animals, exotic insects, carnivorous plants, and more. You’ll find a beautiful selection of unique plants and succulents in their garden, along with gardening books and tools. 11. Arcana
Arcana is a newly-opened urban greenhouse featuring dozens of thriving plants, beautifully crafted pottery and gardening tools, and cozy couches for lounging. The high, lofted ceiling features gorgeous raw wooden beams and skylights that let in a flood of light for a large collection of indoor and outdoor plants. If that weren’t enough, they host life jazz nights on weekends and transform into a wine bar in the evenings!
