7 Marvelous Rooftop Bars To Check Out In San Francisco

There’s nothing better than drinks with a view!

Everyone knows that rooftops in San Francisco are few and far between, but we managed to round up some stellar spots to try out when you’re looking to grab dinner or drinks with a view. Whether you prefer a swanky environment with craft cocktails, or a laid-back terrace to enjoy a cold beer, we’re sure you’ll find something on this list that caters to your sensibility. Start planning your summer, San Francisco, because you’ll want to hit all of these places at least once! Scroll down to the bottom for a handy map to get you started.

1. El Techo

This breezy rooftop restaurant in the Mission has incredible views, plus a wide variety of Latin American street food. In addition to their fabulous margaritas, consider trying other mouthwatering cocktails including pisco punch, sangria, and more. Catch their happy hour from 4-6pm Monday-Friday, where you can get $5 beers, $4 tacos, and more!

2. Dirty Habit 

This SoMa restaurant and lounge boasts unique and exciting breakfast and dinner menus. Breakfast options include brioche French toast and BBQ beef hash, and dinner options include roasted bone marrow with shallot jam, chicken wings with chili vinaigrette, and much more! Dirty Habit’s 5th floor patio alone is worth the visit; you can enjoy your meal in a comfortable, fully heated, modern open space.

3. Rooftop at VIA

Rooftop at VIA is situated on top of the VIA Hotel. This 12th-floor rooftop, bar, and lounge area is very exclusive, so you can’t get up there unless you’re a hotel guest or part of a private event. If you can’t book one of their luxury rooftop cabanas, no worries. Keep an eye on their calendar and social media for upcoming events, because they’ve been known to host rooftop yoga classes and more. There is also a bar open to the public on the ground floor.

4. Charmaine’s

Charmaine’s is a rooftop restaurant and bar situated atop the San Francisco Proper Hotel. They have cozy fire pits and stunning city views to accompany creative seasonal food options and excellent cocktails. At 120 feet up, you can enjoy SF views that are hard to find anywhere else.

5. Rooftop 25

Here’s a swanky rooftop with a great menu and even better vibes! Their menu includes ahi tuna tartare, ginger barbecue spareribs, oak wood roasted octopus, and more exciting dishes that are sure to take your romantic evening to the next level. They also have an impressive drink menu featuring a variety of ciders, beers, wines, and delicious cocktails. Rooftop 25 at 25 Lusk is a must-try.

6. 620 Jones

Right, so 620 Jones boasts an enormous heated patio with a fantastic ambience even though it’s just 1 story up – still technically a rooftop, though! What it might lack in panoramic views, it makes up for with a solid happy hour, inventive cocktails, and a laid-back atmosphere.

7. Fiorella Sunset

Beloved Italian restaurant Fiorella has just opened up a new location in the Inner Sunset, this time with a heated rooftop! The bi-level space has a sleek street level dining room, complete with a bar and a working fireplace. The roof deck is a private outdoor space on the second level with string lights, lush greenery, heaters, and a retractable awning for foggy days.

Bonus: Salesforce Park

If you’re looking for a rooftop experience without having to pull out your wallet, consider bringing a picnic to enjoy at Salesforce Park. This floating park exists 70 feet above the ground, and is teeming with incredible gardens and interesting plants. You can bring your own food and sprawl out on the grass, or grab one of the tables in the large patio area.
