Billy Porter best known for his iconic performance on the hit show “Pose” will be performing at SF’s Golden Gate Theater on Friday, May 8. The Grammy, Emmy, and two-time Tony Award-winning singer, composer, director, author, actor, and playwright will be touring the US as part of his forthcoming album, Black Mona Lisa.
This special tour will be Porter’s first-ever career-spanning pop music concert tour, which is titled The Black Mona Lis Tour: Volume 1. This exciting performance will utilize a full band, and video installations, with Porter telling his life story through song. The 90-minute concert will feature his chart-topping hits like “Love Is on the Way” and “Love Yourself,” with a tinge of Broadway, and a few nods to his work on “Pose.”
“It’s really the first time that I’ve been able to fully express myself and who I am through my music. Through my mainstream pop music space. It’s like my magnum opus. It’s everything to me,” Porter commented on the upcoming tour. “You’ll really get a glimpse into who I am even deeper with this music.”
Porter started his musical career in 1997 and he has since become a household name for his Tony and Grammy award-winning vocal and stage performance in the musical “Kinky Boots.” Porter also took home the Emmy Award for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series” in 2019 for his work as Pray Tell on “Pose,” making history as being the first openly gay man to do so.
Tickets go on sale starting Friday, March 10 at 10am. This exciting performance will take place on Friday, May 8 at SF’s Golden Gate Theater, located at 1 Taylor Street.
