Caché, a French bistro-inspired restaurant, just opened its doors this weekend in the Sunset District of San Francisco. The restaurant is led by Florent Thomas and Chef Simon Mounier, both of whom have experience at Michelin restaurants. The duo are from the French Riviera and Brittany, combining the French bistro style with modern-California cuisine. The new restaurant features a cozy dining room complete with an accompanying bar. A small outdoor area is perfect for enjoying warm days at the bistro-style restaurant.

“Opening Caché represents the culmination of a long-awaited dream for Simon and me,” says Florent Thomas, Co-Owner and Director of Operations. “Our hope is to create a unique dining experience that honors our French roots and celebrates California’s bounty and playful spirit, all while embracing the laid-back charm of the Sunset District—a place that feels like both a neighborhood gem and a culinary destination.”
Caché’s menu is full of new takes on classic American and French cuisine. Savory croissants, a croque monsieur, and a buckwheat crepe roll are French favorites from the lunch menu. More inventive menu items include a lobster roll and an octopus hot dog with mango curry mayonnaise. The dinner menu features mains like Iberico pork paired with a carrot purée and oysters for starters. The menu will change seasonally, and Chef Mounier plans to take advantage of ingredients in the Bay Area to curate the menu throughout the year. A ‘plat du jour’ is offered during lunch, where Chef Mounier will create a daily special. Finally, a simple yet satisfactory dessert menu completes the dining experience with offerings like an elevated warm cookie and Pistachio crème brûlée.

Caché opened last weekend at 1235 9th Avenue in the Sunset. The restaurant is offering lunch and dinner menus, with brunch available on weekends. Open Wednesday through Monday, the restaurant accepts walk-ins and reservations.
