While dating apps are very common, many users often complain about the difficulty of meeting people or prefer meeting people in person. Now, people are thinking of a new solution to help people mingle: pitching their single friends with a group presentation. The trend has appeared at several bars and venues across the city, with one venue, Date My Friend, hosting events where people can prepare a 3-5-minute presentation about their single friend. The events are hosted at the arts space and venue, the Faight in the Lower Haight, but they have a special event planned before Valentine’s Day.
Date My Friend is partnering with the California Academy of Sciences and will appear at the museum’s Thursday night event, NightLife. The museum regularly hosts themed after-hours events, and on February 12, you can check out their Mix and Mingle party in honor of Valentine’s Day. You can sign up to pitch your friend at the event, or explore the other exciting activities they have planned.

When visitors enter, they can choose a wristband for the night. Options include green for ready to mingle, red for taken, and yellow for focusing on yourself, with pride stickers available. From there, you can get a tarot reading, play games, or explore the planetarium. Finally, you can expect desserts, flowers, and a photo booth to have a keepsake from the night.

If you can’t make it to NightLife on February 12, you can still look forward to more Date My Friend events at the Faight in the future. NightLife tickets cost $25 and are 21+ events. The event runs from 6 pm to 10 pm on Thursday evening. You can learn more and get your tickets here.
