Downtown First Thursdays is a popular monthly block party that regularly draws major crowds. The block party is returning next week, with a special celebration to celebrate Independence Day a little early. Keep reading for all the details about the free block party this week.
Downtown First Thursdays July 2026

The next Downtown First Thursdays will take place on July 2 from 5 to 10 pm in San Francisco. The lineup for July’s block party features Peaches Christ’s Great American Variety Show as the headlining act. The lively show features iconic drag artist Peaches Christ, with a 4th of July celebration that features a hot dog eating contest, a massive drag show from Haus of Cream, an interactive dance along, and more.
Another highlight to look forward to is Carnie Asada’s Lips & Lashes Drag Spectacular, and a fashion show by local designer Mario Benton. The block party is packed with other popular events, such as karaoke, a dance hall, and a dedicated discoteca area.
Local businesses also join in on the fun, such as 111 Minna Gallery, which typically opens its doors to showcase the current art while serving drinks. There are four outdoor bars in the block party, so there are plenty of chances to grab a drink.

Along with the many fun (and free) activities, you can also explore numerous vendors at the block party, ranging from vintage clothing to delicious food trucks.
Downtown First Thursdays is free and open to all ages. The event takes place on 2nd Street between Market and Howard. We recommend taking public transit, as parking may be difficult to find in the area due to the large number of attendees.
