San Francisco’s Exploratorium has officially launched Catalyst Coffee Lab, a public coffee bar, and The Tinkering Table, a family-focused restaurant, at its bayfront location on Pier 15!
The new establishments come from a partnership with Constellation Culinary Group, which has experience providing food services for other cultural venues, such as the California Academy of Sciences and Carnegie Hall.
“Our work with the Exploratorium is about crafting dining experiences that resonate with the museum’s spirit, where taste and presentation become part of the exploration,” said Morgan Bedore, President of Dining & Events at Elior North America, in a press release.
Here’s what to know.
Catalyst Coffee Lab

Catalyst Coffee Lab is now open to the public, and it’s located across from the Buckyball sculpture on Pier 15, with outdoor seating right on the water.
The menu offers grab-and-go items, including coffee drinks from Thanksgiving Coffee, fresh pastries, and breakfast options such as burritos and bacon, egg, and cheese croissants.
🕜 Hours: Open from 10am to 4:30pm, Tuesday to Sunday
The Tinkering Table

Inside the museum, The Tinkering Table now serves as a fast-casual restaurant for visitors with tickets. The menu allows for customized meals, including seasonal flatbreads, soups, and grab-and-go sandwiches. While the new coffee shop does not require a museum ticket, the Tinkering Table is only open inside the museum with a ticket.
Specific offerings include a Salmon Grain Bowl, the Golden Gate Griddle Burger, and a Tofu Banh Mi Toastie. There’s also a children’s menu with items like mac & cheese and burgers.
🕜 Hours: Open from 11am to 3pm Tuesday to Sunday, and 6pm-9:30pm during Thursday After Dark events
