UNDSCVRD returns for its 7th season, this time as a block party with an emphasis on the impact Hip Hop has had on Filipinx culture. The theme coincides with Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary, and the annual event promises to bring its signature fun, creativity, and community. The event has been a local favorite for years and continues to bring together the community to celebrate Filipinx culture through its work.
The block party will take place on Saturday, September 16, in SF’s Filipino Cultural District, SOMA Pilipinas. The event is located in an open outdoor space called the Parks @ 5m, located at 44 Mary Street, Kapwa Gardens, and the CAST building. The event runs from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m., and organizers recommend arriving early. Photo by Chan Photos
Since 2017, Kultivate Labs (of Kapwa Gardens) and Make it Mariko Events have produced this non-profit festival in celebration of Filipinx culture.
The block party is packed with various events and vendors, including photo booths, Lego building, and a kid-friendly storytime. Plus, the event features performances from DJ Bite Size, Tyler Lauren, Ace Funk, and many more. While you’re not enjoying activities and listening to live music, you can grab a bite to eat at one of the many food vendors, from Tokachi Musubi, BHK rice bows, Wyldflour, and many more. Retail vendors will also attend the festivities with a range of products from clothing to books. The 7th season consists of 3 monthly block parties, all dedicated to celebrating Filipinx culture.
The UNDSCVRD Block Party will take place on September 16 in SOMA Pilipinas. The family-friendly event is free and welcomes all ages with several activities perfect for kids. The location is easily accessible by BART at Powel Station.
