Just 30 minutes south of San Francisco is a beautiful historic estate with sprawling gardens. Filoli is well known for its gardens that bloom with thousands of flowers every spring, and it also hosts a range of unique events throughout the year.
This winter, Filoli is hosting a concert series in the beautiful ballroom. The shows fit only a small audience in the beautiful ballroom, which was originally designed for performances. The concert series starts this weekend with Valentine’s Day performances, although the shows are already sold out. In March, you can see a special concert that honors the estate’s Irish connection, with the Devil’s Orchard performing songs inspired by traditional Gaelic and Scandinavian music. The concerts are March 12 through 14, and tickets start at $55.

The following week, you can see the San Jose Opera perform in the stunning ballroom as a preview to their season. The opera will be performed on March 17 through 19, and tickets start at $75. You can also order a bottle of champagne to enjoy during the concerts. Tickets for the shows are expected to sell out, so we recommend getting your tickets soon.
Filoli was originally built in 1917 for the Bourn family, which owned one of California’s richest gold mines. The family built Filoli to be their grand country estate after leaving San Francisco, and would host concerts in the beautiful ballroom. The second owners of the estate would host opulent debutante balls in the space before the estate was eventually opened to the public. Today, Filoli consistently welcomes visitors to its historic home and sprawling gardens. Organizers host seasonal events, including holiday lights, summer concert series, and family-friendly events.
Filoli is also hosting a special Lunar New Year celebration on February 28, with lion dancing, games, and a musical performance from Winnie Wong.
