Fleet Week is one of San Francisco’s most anticipated events, with people eagerly waiting for the air shows throughout the weekend. This year, you can add another event to your calendar during Fleet Week, the final Fridays on Front Street block party. While the plans for Fleet Week may be uncertain amid the government shutdown, the lively party will still continue this week.
The free party is scheduled for Friday, October 10th, from 4 to 9 pm at the Front Street entertainment zone. The party is the last in the free block parties that debuted this May on Friday evenings. In honor of Fleet Week, the party is Yacht Rock Party themed, with guests encouraged to dress accordingly. You can expect live music from tribute bands Mustache Harbor and Aju Vu. Plus, the United States Air Force Travis Brass Band will also perform live.

The party will include screening the hit movie Top Gun, while partygoers play various lawn games at the event. You can expect an air guitar competition, beer pong, and more at the party. After the outdoor performances finish, bars on the block will host DJs and continue serving cocktails after 9 pm.
The free block parties are the work of the Downton SF Partnership and are part of numerous projects to help enliven SF’s downtown. The parties are intended to be an after-work celebration for San Franciscans who work downtown, and they have largely been deemed a success by organizers, with thousands of attendees joining in on the fun.
“The overwhelming success of Fridays on Front St. proves what’s possible when we reimagine public space,” said Robbie Silver, President & CEO of the Downtown SF Partnership. “This series is helping Downtown SF thrive by bringing thousands of people together, driving real dollars to our small businesses, and building new community-powered experiences that San Franciscans can look forward to.”
For now, it is still uncertain whether the Blue Angels will be able to perform this weekend for Fleet Week, but luckily, many festivities will continue as planned. The Front Street block party is an exciting way to celebrate the annual event despite the change in Fleet Week festivities this year. The Canadian Snowbirds and a group of civilian pilots will perform this weekend in place of the Blue Angels, so you can still expect an exciting airshow.
