Catch a free ride from July 3 to July 5!
If you’re thinking about how to get around the City on July 4th weekend, the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District has announced free rides for all passengers from July 3 to 5. Passengers can hop aboard both the ferry and the shuttle system free of charge and “see for themselves that public transit is a great way to get around safely.”
On Sunday the 4th, Golden Gate Transit will offer free late-night ferry service for those wanting to see the fireworks out on the water. Free shuttles will also run from the Larkspur Ferry Terminal for passengers disembarking from the fireworks ferry, with service to the Canal neighborhood, Novato and Sonoma County.
That same day, shuttles will run between the San Rafael Transit Center and Larkspur Ferry Terminal before and after all ferry trips for passengers embarking and disembarking.
You can see bus timetables here and ferry timetables here. Buses will run on Sunday/holiday schedules on Monday, and the free ferry service will only run to/from San Francisco, Larkspur and Sausalito during 4th of July weekend.
Also note that face coverings are required on all Golden Gate transportation, and passengers wishing to take the ferry continuously across multiple stops will need to disembark and re-board at each stop.
Happy Fourth of July, San Francisco!
