The popular free movie series Sundown Cinema is back for 2026, kicking off last month with a screening of The Princess Bride in Dolores Park. Now, the series is returning for July, this time heading to the Presidio. Keep reading for all the details.
Sundown Cinema July 2026
San Franciscans can enjoy a free screening of the family-friendly film Inside Out, which is fittingly based in San Francisco. The animated movie first came out in 2015 and has since become a beloved film. The movie will take place on the Presidio Civil War Parade Ground and will start after sunset. We recommend getting to the screening early to secure a spot, as the movies draw major crowds.
The free movie series will continue through October at various parks around the city. Check out the 2026 schedule:
- July 24: Inside Out at Presidio Civil War Ground
- August 21: The Parent Trap at Marina Green
- September 25: School of Rock at the Ferry Building
- October 16: Beetlejuice at Crane Cove Park
Sundown Cinema started several years ago and quickly became a popular summer tradition. The series was previously run by a local nonprofit that has since shut down, but it is now returning, hosted by the SF Standard. Along with Sundown Cinema, Union Square is hosting a movie series this summer, with a screening of The Princess Diaries scheduled for later this month.
