Bay Area, mark your December calendars! The legendary anime film Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem will hit theaters around the globe on December 12, giving Daft Punks fans a one-night-only chance to experience this cult classic on the big screen for the first time ever.
This release offers fans a unique way to enjoy the entire feature-length anime set to Daft Punk’s iconic Discovery album, remastered for the ultimate theater experience. Originally B as a visual companion to Discovery, Interstella 5555 is a sci-fi journey that fuses Daft Punk’s music with striking anime visuals. The story follows a pop band from another galaxy who is kidnapped by an evil human.
While portions of the film were previously released as music videos and shown in brief segments on TV, full screenings of Interstella 5555 have been rare. The film made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003, and, earlier this year, Daft Punk surprised fans by streaming the movie on Twitch to mark the anniversary of their split. This December, fans finally have the opportunity to watch the remastered film in theater.
