Alanis Morissette fans, I think there’s something that you oughta know. The Tony and Grammy Award-winning hit musical, Jagged Little Pill, is coming to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre October 11-November 6. The show is inspired by the groundbreaking rock album of the same name and features beloved hits like “You Oughta Know,” “Head Over Feet,” “Hand In My Pocket,” and “Ironic,” in addition to brand new songs written for the show.
The original story by Tony and Academy Award-winning writer Diablo Cody (Juno, Tully), is about a perfectly imperfect American family, and “Speaks directly to the messy reality of American Life,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show is directed by Diane Paulus (Waitress, Pippin) with choreography from Tony Award nominee and frequent Beyoncé collaborator Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (“Apesh*t”, “Love Drought/Sandcastles” Live at The Grammys). The performance also features an energetic onstage band under the Musical Supervision, Orchestrations & Arrangements of Grammy, Tony, and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal, American Idiot).
Alanis Morissette released the album Jagged Little Pill on June 13, 1995, which sold 33 million copies worldwide and led to her title as the bestselling international debut artist in history. The original album continues to be one of the Top 20 Best-Selling Albums of All Time, according to the RIAA. The Musical has also enjoyed an impressive run which was nominated for a season-record of 15 Tony Awards following its Broadway premiere.
This exciting musical features explosive choreography and raw, powerful performances. Jagged Little Pill is sure to delight fans with nostalgic tracks alongside a deeply relatable modern story.
