Nestled in Northern California, not far from Mount Shasta, a small wilderness lodge offers unique lodgings made of vintage train cars. Jubilee Railroad Wilderness Lodge is a resort surrounded by nature, with old train cabooses renovated to become cozy rooms for guests.

The lodge includes a whimsical restaurant across eight rail cars, including a “Pullman Club Car” from the 1800s. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring a menu made from local ingredients. You can expect dishes like wild salmon, mushroom risotto, charbroiled steak, and more at the Dining Car.
For lodging, the historic cabooses are the main attraction. Each train car is different, with options for cars that can fit solo travelers, couples, or even families. The train cars are often covered in beautiful wood panelling, and some even have a climb-up cupola. The cabins come with a living room and a small front porch ideal for larger groups. Plus, camp sites are available on the property for either tents or RVs.

The property also includes a swimming pool open to guests, a delightful pond, and fire pits. Due to its secluded location, the area is also known for its stargazing. Jubilee Railroad is also only two miles away from a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail. On Thursday, Saturdays, and Sundays, the lodge hosts live music, and if the weather is right, you can catch an outdoor movie screening on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Jubilee Railroad is located in Dunsmuir, a small town that dates back to the late 1800s, when it was primarily populated by railroad workers. In the 1950s, new trains caused there to be fewer jobs related to the railway in Dunsmuir, resulting the idea to use the old train cars for lodging. In 1968, the original “railroad park” was constructed, retrofitting the old cabooses to become unique lodging for visitors. Now, Jubilee Railroad is under new ownership, but it’s still welcoming guests to it’s unique accommodations, perfect for enjoying the iconic natural wonders in Northern California.
