La Cocina Marketplace is an enormous food market that opened in the Tenderloin this year, with a goal of centering business owners that are women, immigrants, and people of color. We’re in luck, because they’re putting on a lovely holiday market fundraiser this weekend on Saturday, December 11 from 11am-6pm.
Entrance to the event is free with donations encouraged. Guests can enjoy live entertainment and shop while enjoying delicious food from marketplace vendors, as well as festive beverages and cocktails. There will also be a holiday photo booth, kids’ crafts, and art and artisan gifts on sale.
A drawing will take place for prizes including a Holiday Cheer Package with an Une Femme champagne set, Haus aperitifs, and a dishtowel set; a Stock Your Pantry Package with a $250 Whole Foods gift card, Masala Dabba with 7 spices, a gift box from Red Boat Fish Sauce, and a Further Foods collagen line; and a Wake Up & Smell The Coffee Package with a linen apron, Clara French press, 5-pack of coffee beans from Lady Falcon Coffee Club, and your choice of All Birds shoes. If you donate to La Cocina before December 15, you’re automatically entered into the drawing, but you can also enter without a donation.
La Cocina’s Holiday Market kicks off their year-end “Stock the Pot” fundraising campaign, which will go towards upgrading the marketplace’s kitchen equipment. Hoodline reports that Whole Foods Market is expected to match donations up to $25K.
Visitors may purchase food and drink packages in advance, or buy tickets at the door. You can also pre-order La Cocina’s popular gift boxes, the cookbook We Are La Cocina, and other merchandise.
Participating vendors include Herb to Your Mother (herbal teas), Diosa Blooms (florist), and Sunday Night Ritual (jewelry). La Cocina’s existing vendors will be serving the following:
- Alicia’s Tamales Los Mayas: tamalito popsicles
- Bini’s Kitchen: momos
- Estrellitas Snacks: mini pupusas
- Kayma: Algerian stuffed puff pastry/coca
