This weekend is packed with free events around San Francisco, including night markets, movie screenings, and free block parties. On Saturday, August 22, two blocks of Chestnut Street will be closed for a new block party.
Marina Block Party
This Saturday, local nonprofit The Guardsmen is hosting a free block party on Chestnut Street, a main commercial street in the Marina packed with shops, restaurants, and bars. The free summer street festival features local craft and food vendors on the street, accompanied by live music throughout the day. You can also grab food or a drink from one of the many restaurants on the street, or check out a lawn game or family-friendly activity like face painting.
The event is free; however, you can buy VIP tickets for access to a new event space, which includes Cultivar and two drink tickets. The Guardsmen Bar will serve beer from local breweries, with proceeds benefiting the organization’s charity programs. The block party will start at 1 pm and last until 6 pm, and is open to all ages. The party will cover two blocks on Chestnut Street, between Divisadero and Pierce.
The Guardsmen is a nonprofit that works with at-risk youth in the Bay Area, offering scholarships and camps. Every winter, The Guardsmen hosts a massive holiday party to raise funds for its charitable programs.
