Presidio Tunnel Tops is about to gain an exciting new foodie attraction!
A 6,200-square-foot food hall, known as The Mess Hall, is due to open in a historic building at SF’s scenic waterfront park this June 2026.
Peter Serpico, a James Beard-winning chef and author, is at the helm of the new culinary space, which will feature a full bar and a range of restaurants.
Here’s a closer look.
A closer look at the Presidio Mess Hall
The Chronicle reported that the Presidio Mess Hall will feature three casual eateries, operated by the same central kitchen rather than separate kiosks. The aim is to offer an all-day, fast-casual dining option in addition to nearby restaurants Dalida and Il Parco.

Diners can order Korean cuisine from Boda, fresh seafood from Dayboat Seafood, and sandwiches and burgers from Breadwinner.
The hall also features a retail market, a cafe serving coffee from Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters, and a full bar with wine, beer, and cocktails.
It’s all situated inside a 6,200-square-foot former U.S. Army building with a 2,700-square-foot patio.

About Presidio Tunnel Tops
Presidio Tunnel Tops is a 14-acre public park situated on top of the Presidio Parkway tunnels. It creates a car-free link between the Main Post and Crissy Field on SF’s waterfront.
The park just opened in 2022, offering a popular open space for San Franciscans to enjoy fire pits, bay views, a central lawn, and sprawling trails. Just last year, in July 2025, the 1.5-acre “Outpost Meadow” expansion opened, creating a large grassy gathering space with seating, BBQ grills, and picnic tables.
Beyond the opening of the Mess Hall, Presidio Tunnel Tops is embarking on a years-long “Presidio-Forward” initiative to further develop the space by renewing landscapes, restoring historic buildings, and enhancing access.
