SFMTA announced a Transit & Traffic Advisory during the peak holiday season, from Dec. 18, 2025 through Jan. 1, 2026.
During this busy time of year, San Franciscans may notice some temporary street closures, public transit reroutes, and changes to parking enforcement.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect.
Muni and BART holiday schedules
Both Muni and BART will operate on a Sunday schedule on Christmas Day (Dec 25th, 2025) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2026).
This means the Muni Metro Subway will open at 8 am, and weekday-only bus routes will not run.
Muni and BART services will operate on regular schedules on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24th, 2025).
