It seems the late fall storms are finally here in the Bay Area. The NWS has predicted more rain this week, and a coastal flood advisory for the Bay Area. The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory starting 7 am Thursday morning and lasting through 4 pm on Monday. A High Surf Advisory is also in effect from 7 am Thursday to 11 am Saturday.
The NWS expects minor flooding in the North Bay Interior County and SF Bay Shoreline counties to the east along the bay. The minor flooding means that parking lots and some roads could be affected, and only a few “isolated road closures” are expected.
For the High Surf Advisory, the NWS warns against swimming or surfing during that time. Additionally, large waves can unexpectedly sweep across the beach, and pull people on shore into the water. Northwest beaches are expected to experience the most intense waves and shore breaks during the High Surf Advisory. For safety precautions, NWS recommends staying out of the water, especially if you’re an inexperienced swimmer, and allow some extra travel time for potential flooding or road closures.
