The surge in Covid cases has canceled the event, originally scheduled for October 16.
San Francisco’s beloved Corgi Con is a celebration of all things corgi at Ocean Beach, bringing up to a thousand corgis and their owners to participate in contests, races, and more. Sadly this fall’s event, originally scheduled for October 16, has been canceled due to Covid.
“We were hopeful that we would be able to navigate a healthy summer to have our event but as you all are aware the Delta Variant had other plans,” wrote Corgi Con on their website. “Our Corgi races, costume contest and corgi ninja warrior are events that we can not enforce the needed social distancing measures due to the arena size and staffing needed.”
Corgi Con usually hosts 2 events a year – one in the summer and one in the fall. Both this and last years’ events were canceled as a result of Covid, so fingers crossed we can enjoy Corgi Con in the summer of 2022.
Corgi Con usually draws up to a thousand Corgis for an epic doggy party. The event includes a giant group picture with all the furry participants; a Corgi Ninja Warrior contest that puts those short little legs through their paces; a massive costume contest for creative corgi owners, and “Mickey’s Derby,” which pits the pooches against each other in speed races.
You can support Corgi Con and help it come back even bigger and better next year by purchasing some adorable Corgi merch! Products include event t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, masks, tumblers, doggy bandanas, and more.
