San Francisco’s beloved Corgi Con is an annual celebration of all things corgi, bringing hundreds of corgis and their owners to participate in contests, races, and more.
This year the event has been moved from SF’s usual Ocean Beach location to the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. You don’t need to own a corgi to enjoy the festivities as a spectator, because even cat people will find this adorable. It’ll all go down on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 10am to 5pm.
Since this is the largest corgi event in Northern “Corgifornia,” the previous Ocean Beach location was unable to keep the usual festivities going due to regulation changes. Rest assured the fairgrounds will give more than enough room for both humans and corgis to get up to their usual shenanigans.
Although most 2023 details are yet to be announced, the day usually includes a giant group picture with all the furry participants; a Corgi Ninja Warrior contest that puts those short little legs through their paces; a massive costume contest for creative corgi owners, and “Mickey’s Derby,” which pits the pooches against each other in speed races.
This special event often hosts up to a thousand Corgis for an epic doggy party. So far for 2023 we’ve heard tell of flower crown crafts and a mini picnic photo op setup via Instagram. Some popular vendors confirmed for the event include Kiwihen, which creates adorable keychains and corgi plushies; and Nindogu, which specializes in cute patterned dog scarves.
Corgi Con generally hosts 2 events a year – one in the summer and one in the fall. You can support Corgi Con by purchasing some adorable Corgi merch including event t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, masks, tumblers, doggy bandanas, and more.
Don’t forget to RSVP to Corgi Con on Facebook and get ready for a seriously adorable event on Sept. 16, 2023.
