Dating apps have been a cultural staple since they launched over a decade ago with over 60 million people using online dating services just in the US. But now, many daters have grown tired of the apps, and want an alternative to swiping right. This is where Paloma comes in; to create a way for singles to meet, in person. The dating service differentiates itself from popular apps like tinder, Hinge, and Bumble by eliminating swiping all together. Instead, you fill out an application and receive your matches via text.
Now, the company is wading into the real world with a week of in person events for singles. The event series first launched in LA last month, and is moving on to SF starting November 1st. The SF calendar has over 20 events between November 1 and 8, ranging from fitness classes to happy hours.
Prices for the activities vary depending on what event you want to attend. Paloma partnered with many different gyms and venues to create the events, including many SF staples. Some listings on the calendar include Reps and Romance at Barry’s, Flex & Flirt at Pure Barre, Connect Fast, Date Slow at Alchemy Springs, and more. There’s at least one event everyday during the series, so you have plenty of chances to check it out.
The dating platform is VC backed, and intends to connect “vetted, high-quality singles who are “relationship ready.” The platform is only in LA and SF at the moment. “California is brimming with eligible singles and enchanting venues. #DateWeek is our love letter to both. Whether you’re into breaking a sweat or breaking bread, there’s something to set everyone’s heart racing. Who knows? You might just fall head over heels for a new local hotspot while you’re at it!” said Luba Yudasina, CEO and Founder of Paloma.
