One of San Francisco’s most beloved—and cutest—events is back for its 18th year this weekend. SF DogFest is just as it sounds: a carnival-style festival for dogs, complete with adorable contests, food trucks, carnival games, and even a bouncy house for children. The best part? The event raises money for McKinley Elementary, a local public school in the area.
The event will be this Saturday, April 26, starting at 11 am in Duboce Park. You can expect food trucks, a silent auction, and plenty of adorable dogs. The main event is the Dog Show, complete with a red carpet. The show includes a series of contests, including Best Costume, Best Trick, and more.
Check out the schedule for the Dog Show here:
- 11:30 am Best Costume
- 12:00 pm Best Trick
- 12:30 pm Best Coat
- 1:00 pm Halftime show
- 1:30 pm Best Mutt
- 2:00 pm Best Lap Dog
- 2:30 pm (Openly Corrupt) Best-In-Show
The festival’s finale, Best-In-Show, is comprised of the winners of each category, and anyone who will donate $50. For the other contests, creativity is encouraged, so don’t be afraid to break out your wackiest dog costume, and most astonishing tricks (yes, you can use props). You can sign your pup up for the Dog Show in advance online. The event also has a silent auction that is now open, packed with goods from local restaurants, businesses, workout studios, and more. The food lineup includes Senior Sisig, Ben and Jerry’s, Third Wheel Coffee, and Bacon Bacon. Plus, you can browse through the local vendors, including Disco Dog, Woof Caddy, Pet Food Express, and many more.
Dog Fest First started almost 20 years ago as a small, grassroots event to raise money, and it has since grown into a major fundraising event, and something the SF community looks forward to every spring.
