This laid-back farmers’ market is known as “the people’s market” among SF locals. Founded in 1943, the Alemany Farmer’s Market has a long history of providing affordable, high-quality products to the people of San Francisco.

Hours: Saturdays, 6am-2pm
This year-round market has been operated primarily by volunteers since 2003, when the neighborhood’s local natural foods store closed unexpectedly. The farmer’s market provides a way for workers, farmers, merchants, and neighbors to have access to healthy, fresh, and local produce. According to their website, seniors, immunocompromised, and otherwise vulnerable guests may use a priority line from 8-9am.

This certified farmers’ market is operated by the non-profit Pacific Coast Farmer’s Market Association. All produce is largely organic and California-grown, and sold to you by the farmers who cultivated the crops. Enjoy live jazz music while sampling local honey, pastries, cheeses, and more.

The Center for Urban Education about Sustainable Agriculture (CUESA) runs this triweekly market right in front of the Ferry Building. They’ve offered high-quality diverse product from sustainable farmers since 1993.

The Heart of the City Farmers’ Market has been SF’s “only independent, farmer-operated non-profit farmer’s market since 1981.” This food justice organization provides excellent food to San Francisco’s poorest neighborhood, whose customers otherwise struggle to afford healthy options. They also acquire and distribute $1 million annually in food assistance programs and provide education programs, among many other things.

Certified farmers from the Agricultural Institute of Marin provide a diverse array of fresh seasonal produce, baked goods, fresh flowers, and hot foods. Enjoy this year-round SF installation on Clement Street every Sunday.

This fun farmers’ market was named SF Weekly’s Best Family-Oriented Farmer’s Market in San Francisco. They also feature certified farmers from the Agricultural Institute of Marin, and are well-connected with public transportation and free parking.

This lively farmers’ market is operated by the Pacific Coast Farmers’ Market Association and Inner Sunset Park Neighbors. Since 2009, they’ve perfected a bustling, accessible family market complete with kids’ activities and live music.
