Check out Garfield Pool’s renovation!
Dive into a new era of Covid-compliant swimming in San Francisco! If you’re a swimmer looking to get back into the pool as we move into the spring season, SF Recreation and Parks has announced that more indoor pools are opening up for reservations. You may now reserve a lane at Sava Pool in the Sunset District or Martin Luther King Jr. Pool in the Bayview District.
Garfield Pool in the Mission District will open May 1. The space recently underwent a $19.7M renovation, and it now includes a brand-new clubhouse, renovated showers and locker rooms, a playroom, a kitchen, new basketball courts, and an outdoor splashpad.
Registration is now open for 60-minute lap swim sessions and drowning prevention classes at Save and Martin Luther King Jr. pools. Availability is extremely limited because pools only permit 1 swimmer per lane as a COVID-19 safety measure, so be sure to reserve early! Swimmers must be over 14 years old to do so.
At the moment, group practices and classes are not allowed, with the exception of drowning prevention classes. Swimmers must arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their swim time and no later than 15 minutes after. Pools will perform temperature checks upon entering the building and masks are required outside of the water. Locker rooms will be closed, so there are no private changing or shower areas. Swimmers are advised to shower at home before arrival at the pool.
Two of SF’s indoor pools are poised to welcome back lap swimmers w/ reservations! Registration for 60-minute lap swim times & drowning prevention classes at Sava & Martin Luther King Jr. pools will open Friday, 4/16 at 8AM at https://t.co/bICPXmlnLa for dates beginning on 4/20. pic.twitter.com/6Zj2ovhRLN
