While San Francisco has been enjoying late sunsets for weeks, the days are getting shorter as we head into August. The last 8 p.m. sunset of 2025 in San Francisco will be this Saturday, August 16th. Thankfully, we can still look forward to long days for a few more weeks; the last 7 p.m. sunset isn’t until late September. In the meantime, we recommend you enjoy the long days and even try to catch a sunset at one of SF’s many scenic spots.
Best sunset spots in SF

- Sunset Dunes: The new park on the Great Highway is perfect for a sunset stroll in the evening, with great views of the beach and lounge spaces. Plus, we recommend you check out one of the local businesses in the area, including Hook Fish for seafood and Woods for a great glass of wine.
- Alamo Square Park: Known for the iconic Painted Ladies, Alamo Square Park is perched on a hilltop, perfect for enjoying an evening sunset. The park has plenty of space to enjoy a picnic, or you can bring your dog to the dog park area.
- Twin Peaks: Twin Peaks is famous for its panoramic city views, which make it perfect for watching a sunset. You can walk or drive to the peak, and once you’re at the top, there are short trails to explore.
- Corona Heights Park: Corona Heights has views similar to Twin Peaks, although at a lower elevation, which is often more accessible from other parts of the city. The park is also only a short walk from Buena Vista Park, another hilltop park in the Haight.
