SF Open Studios gives the public a rare opportunity to visit over 400 local artists in their personal studios. The annual event started in 1975 as a way for local artists to increase the accessibility of their work by collectively opening their studios to the public. This event takes place across SF from October 22nd through November 13th. Here are the final Open Studios events for 2022:
November 5th and 6th – Central SF Open Studios
This weekend includes the famously creative Mission, Potrero, SoMa, Castro, and Haight-Ashbury neighborhoods. If you’re looking to do a crawl between studios, this is your weekend. Check out this Central SF map to plan your route.
November 9th – Art Tasting and Amplify Awards at SOMArts Cultural Center
Enjoy an intimate evening of art, wine, stimulating discussion, and the presentation of the 2022 Amplify Awards at ArtSpan’s SF Open Studios Exhibition. The event will be hosted from 6-8pm at SOMArts Cultural Center, 934 Brannan Street San Francisco.
November 12th and 13th – North SF Open Studios
The final weekend of Open Studios takes place in North SF which spans from the Outer Richmond to Fisherman’s Wharf and includes North Beach, Civic Center, Fort Mason, and Pacific Heights. Use this handy North SF map to plan your route.
If 400 studios seem a bit overwhelming, you can start your journey at the SFOS Exhibition at SOMArts. This special exhibition features art from over 350 of the participating Open Studio artists for you to explore in one convenient space. The show can be a great way to get a taste of the SF art scene and help plan who you’d like to visit.
SF Open Studios is organized by ArtSpan, an SF arts non-profit that supports emerging and established artists across the city. SF Open Studio will run from October 22nd through November 13th.
