If you ask us, San Francisco is a pretty fun city, and it looks like we aren’t the only ones who think so. WalletHub recently released a study ranking cities in the United States on how “fun” they are, and San Francisco ranked #5 overall.
The study looked at over 180 cities in the U.S., and they compared three key factors: entertainment and recreation, nightlife and parties, and cost. Then, they used 65 metrics within those categories with different weights to evaluate the cities.
The top city was, unsurprisingly, Las Vegas, ranking first in both nightlife and entertainment. San Francisco had high rankings in entertainment and nightlife at 6 and 5, respectively. It’s no shock that SF was one of the most costly cities, coming in at 178, although York, Boston, and Seattle were all ranked more expensive than SF. SF was tied for first in festivals per capita, restaurants per capita, and dance clubs per capita.
This isn’t the first time SF has placed highly on national rankings. SF was named one of the best cities globally, coming in at #7 out of over 270 cities. SF was also ranked highly among the best places to spend New Year’s Eve.
The top 10 most fun cities according to WalletHub:
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Orlando, Florida
- Miami, Florida
- Atlanta, Georgia
- San Francisco, California
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- Austin, Texas
- Chicago, Illinois
- Honolulu, Hawaii
