SFMOMA is gearing up for some special event programming in April! On the same weekend as the long-awaited Soapbox Derby, they will also host their beloved Art Bash event on Friday, April 8. The Art Bash includes 3 phases, for which guests can reserve different times: A 6pm dinner and live auction, an 8pm party, and a 10pm late-night party. This annual fundraiser will benefit a variety of events and programming at the museum including free admission days and partnerships with local schools.
A dinner ticket costs between $1,000-$10,000, including a tax-deductible donation between $800-9,800, and starts at 6pm (some dinner price points are now sold out). Guests can enjoy dinner, cocktails, and a live auction with works by Julie Mehretu, William Kentridge, Larry Sultan; and the experience has hand-painted installations by Sarah Cain.
A $250 party ticket gets you access starting at 8pm and includes a tax-deductible donation of $150; and a $95 late-night party ticket starts at 10pm with a tax-deductible donation of $25. Throughout the evening, all 7 floors of the museum will burst into a raucous party with musical performances and immersive art experiences.
Events include photography by Michael Jang, punk rock music by The Linda Lindas, a DJ battle with Miles Medina, music by Nite Jewel and DJ $picy, live painting of a Soapbox Derby car by artists DJ Agana and Vogue, and an audio-visual piece by The Palms.
To enter Art Bash, guests must present proof of vaccination and a valid ID. The museum encourages guests to wear face coverings, and food and beverage service will be relegated to outdoor areas.
If you’re feeling up to a fun and fancy evening with SFMOMA, consider grabbing a ticket for Art Bash, happening from 6pm-1am on Friday, April 8. Be sure to also check out their Soapbox Derby on April 10, which will be happening for the first time in 44 years.
