The SF Museum of Modern Art is an expansive museum with seven floors and approximately 170,000 square feet of gallery space. The modern art museum is one of the biggest in the United States, and features world-renowned works that regularly draw locals and visitors to its beautiful exhibitions. If you’ve been meaning to visit the beautiful museum, this week is the perfect time to do it because there is a free admission day on Thursday, May 1.
Free admission at SFMOMA
Admission for adults to the museum typically costs $30, but the museum regularly hosts free admission days on the first Thursday of every month, so Bay Area residents can enjoy the museum for free. The next free admission day at SFMOMA is this Thursday, May 1st, from 12 to 8 pm.
All residents of the Bay Area are qualified for free admission, and you can reserve tickets online in advance. If you want to see a surcharged exhibition, you will need a separate ticket, and it is generally not included on the free admission day. The free admission event coincided with the free monthly block party, called Downtown First Thursdays, just a short walk from the museum. The block parties include food, local vendors, and exciting performances, including DJ duo Snakehips this month.
