SF’s beloved free moving screenings are returning for 2024. Sundown Cinema announced its 2024 schedule, which will begin this May and run through October. The free movie screenings will happen in different SF parks over the next few months, and different films will be played for audiences to enjoy. This year, Sundown Cinema will play 7 films, including some special sing-along versions. The first screening will be at Dolores Park on May 17, featuring a sing-along version of Selena.
Check out the full schedule here:

Arrive early to enjoy live music, performances, and pre-show entertainment, and snag a seat while munching on delicious treats from local food trucks. The event organizers encourage guests to walk, bike, or take public transport to the screenings and to leave alcohol at home. Be sure to bring warm clothes and blankets because, of course, this is San Francisco.
Sundown Cinema has been a favorite local event for 6 years running. It’s a great opportunity to connect with your neighborhood and enjoy the city’s beautiful parks in a cozy outdoor setting.
The series is free and open to all, but you can RSVP to try and win reserved seats and special prizes for each screening. If you want to purchase VIP seating, proceeds will go to support SF Parks Alliance so they can continue to deliver amazing events like these.
“Sundown Cinema is a way for everyone to celebrate their parks, so it was important to us to bring an even wider range of films than we have in previous years,” says Drew Becher, CEO of SF Parks Alliance. “There are movies in everyone’s neighborhood, but these will be worth traveling for, too.”
The series comes to us courtesy of SF Parks Alliance, Alamo Drafthouse, and Waymo in collaboration with Do The Bay, SF Rec & Parks, Presidio Trust, and the Port of San Francisco.
