The de Young museum in Golden Gate Park debuted an expansive manga exhibition last fall, featuring hundreds of original drawings from multiple publishers. The Art of Manga is the first major manga exhibit in the United States, and has been a major success, drawing over 175,000 viewers in a few short months, with it scheduled to close on January 25, 2026.
Due to popular demand, the exhibit has been extended by a week and will close on February 1, 2026. Plus, the exhibit will have extended hours until 8:30 pm on January 16, 17, 23, and 24. The exhibition explores both the stories and the art form, with original drawings from some of the most popular manga in the world, including One Piece.

The de Young is also hosting cosplay days on Saturdays, where viewers are encouraged to come to the exhibition dressed as their favorite character. Cosplay days are held every Saturday until the exhibition closes and coincide with free-admission days for Bay Area residents. On January 22, you can also head to the museum for the latest Late Night Editions, which is an after-hours party at the museum. You can expect live music, food trucks from Off the Grid, and photo opportunities. The party will also give guests access to the Art of Manga, along with the museum’s other exhibitions, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to explore the museum while enjoying a unique party.

The Art of Manga will run until February 1, 2026, at the de Young in San Francisco. You can find tickets to the exhibition here.
