The San Francisco Symphony is known for its many wonderful performances, featuring talented musicians. One of the symphony’s popular events is its film series, where musicians play a live score while the film plays. The series ranges from family-friendly favorites to classic films, and this November you can catch a screening of Tim Burton’s beloved film Nightmare Before Christmas.
The Nightmare Before Christmas at the SF Symphony
On November 24, the SF Symphony will host a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas, complete with a live score. The beloved movie is one of Tim Burton’s most iconic films, known for its beautiful stop-motion animation.
The film follows Jack Skellington, a character from Halloween Town, who discovers Christmas and wants to celebrate the holiday. The movie is known for its whimsical music, composed by Danny Elfman, who worked extensively with Burton, including on major films like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands.
The Nightmare Before Christmas isn’t the only movie screening you can expect at the symphony in the coming weeks. There will be two screenings of Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas on December 10 and 11. Plus, Elf will be in concert on December 18, 19, and 20.
Tickets for the film screening are currently on sale and start at $54. Tickets sell out fast, so we recommend getting yours soon. You can get tickets on the SF Symphony website.
