Tokyo Central is a popular Asian grocery store chain with another nearby location in Cupertino, but the debut of this Emeryville location near SF was met with tons of excitement around the Bay Area.
The 40,000+ square foot building offers an impressive range of fresh produce, meats and seafood, pantry staples, snacks, sake and beer, candies, beauty products, health items, and so much more.
You’ll also find a ton of ready-to-eat dishes, including extensive sushi and sashimi cases, bento boxes, and hot deli items, and a popular Hand Roll Factory counter.
Tokyo Central Emeryville is located at the Bay Street Emeryville shopping center, which is a fun open-air hub where you can enjoy great shopping, dining, and a popular movie theater.

Taking public transit to Tokyo Central
Assuming light or no traffic, you can generally travel from SF’s Salesforce Transit Center to Tokyo Central in about 20 minutes via the A.C. Transit F line (Adeline-Market Transbay) toward “U.C. Campus.”
The F Line runs every 30 minutes or so. Get off at the Shellmound St & Bay St stop, which puts you right in front of the Bay Street Emeryville shopping center and Tokyo Central.
Time your trip for a weekday between late morning and early afternoon, or early morning on a weekend, for your best chance at a quick bus ride.
