Earlier this summer, San Francisco band Train announced a new album, naming it after a bar in the Haight-Ashbury called Mad Dog in the Fog. The band was formed in San Francisco back in 1993 and became known for their hit song “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me),” which won two Grammy Awards. Now, the band is releasing their 12th studio album, Mad Dog in the Fog, which is one of the first venues the band played at.
Train album release block party
To celebrate the new album, which is set to be released on Friday, August 21, the band is shutting down part of Haight Street for a block party outside Mad Dog in the Fog. The block party is this Thursday, August 27, called Train’s Love on Haight — A Mad Dog in the Fog Block Party. Train will be there to perform, and doors will open at 3:30 pm, and the show starts at 5pm.
The party has limited space, and you can RSVP online, but you need a confirmation to attend. The block party will allow those with a confirmation to enter until the space is full. When you RSVP online, be sure to put your full name that matches your ID. While you’re in the Haight-Ashbury, we recommend exploring some of the many vintage and second-hand shops along Haight Street. You can also grab a drink at other bars along the street, such as Zam Zam and Alembic.
Train is currently on tour, celebrating 25 years of their iconic album Drops of Jupiter. The band is accompanied by the Barenaked Ladies, Matt Nathanson, KT Tunstall, and more at their upcoming shows. After their performance at Mad Dog in the Fog, the band will head to Oregon, Washington, and Vancouver for more shows.
