Beginning this June, Yosemite National Park will reopen all 13 of its campgrounds for summer reservations, marking the first time they’ve all been available since 2019. This reopening adds approximately 500 additional campsites, giving more visitors the chance to experience Yosemite’s scenic landscapes and wilderness. Due to high demand during peak season, reservations will be required for all campgrounds through October—more on that below.
The past six years have brought ongoing disruptions, resulting in various ongoing campground closures. Challenges included the COVID-19 pandemic, staffing shortages, infrastructure repairs, severe weather, and wildfires.
“We’re very excited to have these campgrounds open to the public as we enter the busy summer season,” said Ray McPadden, Acting Yosemite National Park Superintendent. “Camping in this park is truly a magical experience, and we want to provide the opportunity for as many visitors as possible.”

Reservations and park entry details
Yosemite’s campsite reservations are mandatory from April through October. Sites are released daily on Recreation.gov exactly two weeks before the arrival date. Even though this year brings more availability, reservations are notoriously competitive, so early planning is recommended.
The park also requires entry reservations at the park entrances during peak periods (June 15–Aug. 15 and Aug. 30–Sept. 1); however, visitors with campground reservations are exempt from this requirement. You can read our article for more details about park entry reservations.
