The tour comes as Malik announces his latest album, KONNAKOL, which will be out on April 17. The new album will be his fifth studio album, and is highly anticipated by his many loyal fans. Malik will release the lead single for the new album on Friday, February 6.
Malik first rose to fame on The X Factor, where he was placed in the now-iconic British boy band One Direction. The band was formed in 2010 and quickly became a global success with early hits such as “What Makes You Beautiful” and “One Thing.” In 2015, Malik announced he was leaving the group to pursue a solo career. At the time, One Direction had released four studio albums. His first solo single, “Pillowtalk,” was a major success, debuting at #1 on the US and UK charts. Malik has won several awards, including an American Music Award and a Billboard Music Award for New Artist of the Year. His solo career is noted for having a more R&B influence than his previous work with One Direction, which was primarily pop.
