Union Square recently announced a wide array of free programming, from weekly drawing classes to cardio dance. The free program also includes bringing special events to the iconic square, including a major free techno concert this weekend.
The free techno show will take over Union Square on Saturday, May 2, from 4 to 8 pm. The lineup includes Joey Beltram, a DJ and record producer who has been in techno for decades. He is known for a distinctive synth pattern and has played major festivals including Coachella and Dance Valley. Beltram is set to perform a two-hour set in the square on Saturday, after several other DJs perform.

The show’s lineup also features ax Gardner, a local techno DJ who has performed around the world and Adra, a producer and DJ known for all-hardware live performances. Finally, you can expect a set from Free Techno founder Zachary Noel, during the afternoon
The performance is hosted by Free Techno SF in collaboration with the City and County of San Francisco. Free Techno is an organization that aims to make techno more accessible and build community by hosting shows in public spaces throughout the city. Previously, Free Techno hosted a show in SF’s popular Salesforce Park.
This weekend’s show is the first in a series of free techno concerts, with two more scheduled for June 6 and August 1, 2026. There are plenty of free concerts coming up in San Francisco, including a free EDM day party at the Embarcadero on May 9. The Golden Gate Park Bandshell also hosts weekly concerts featuring local musicians, with singer-songwriters, reggae music, and more.
