A portion of the Great Highway was recently turned into an oceanfront park, transforming the highway into a scenic path for bikers, joggers, and families to enjoy the waterfront views.
The new park, Sunset Dunes, is hosting a wholesome, community parade to celebrate the 4th of July. San Francisco doesn’t traditionally have a 4th of July parade, but the city hosts a massive fireworks show on the waterfront every year.
4th of July Parade in San Francisco
In recent years, neighborhood organizers have created a wholesome parade for families and the community near Ocean Beach. The procession will start at the Noriega Sunset Lounge at 11:30 am on Saturday and make its way down the closed portion of the Great Highway to Judah. The procession will feature marching bands and firetrucks along with many other participants.
At the end of the parade, you can expect a family-friendly celebration with bounce houses, music, and classic apple pie for dessert. Plus, there will be a face painting station and bubbles, perfect for kids. After the parade, you can enjoy Ocean Beach, which is known for its beautiful views.
4th of July events in San Francisco
There are plenty of fun events around San Francisco to celebrate the 4th of July. This year, the annual fireworks show will be launched off the Golden Gate Bridge, something that has only happened two other times. You can also attend fun day parties, like R&B and Ribs with a long lineup of DJs, or simply head to one of SF’s many parks to relax and enjoy the holiday.
