This weekend, San Franciscans can look forward to two free movie screenings. Sundown Cinema is returning for a screening at the Ferry Building, and you can also catch another free screening in Hayes Valley on Friday, September 25, featuring Project Hail Mary.
Free Project Hail Mary Screening
Friday night, Hayes Valley will host a free, outdoor movie screening of the blockbuster sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary. The film screening is hosted by PROXY SF, an outdoor community space in the heart of Hayes Valley. PROXY hosts a variety of events, including a fall movie series with free outdoor movies on Friday nights.
This week’s screening is the acclaimed science fiction movie starring Ryan Gosling, Project Hail Mary. The movie follows an astronaut, played by Ryan Gosling, who wakes up from a coma while in space on a mission to save humanity. The screening starts at 7:15 pm and ends around 10 pm. Attendees can grab a beer from Fort Point Beer, a glass of wine from Fig & Thistle, or Sake from Millay.
On Friday, October 2, PROXY will host another free screening, this time for the movie Sentimental Value. Before the screening, we recommend exploring the neighborhood, which is filled with charming shops and restaurants. Some popular restaurants include Chez Maman West, Suppenküche, and Hazie’s.
Be sure to bring a picnic blanket and warm layers to comfortably enjoy the show. The free screening is located at 432 Octavia Street at 7:15 pm on Friday, September 25.
