Taking a train journey is a wonderful way to travel if you want an alternative option to driving or flying. Train trips are perfect for taking in the scenery and offer more comfortable space (at a much lower price) than flying. If you’ve been wanting to take a long train journey this winter, Amtrak is having a major sale on select routes, including one that starts in the Bay Area.
Amtrak Winter Sale
Amtrak announced a Winter Wanderlust sale on select routes around the country. The sale offers up to 30% on winter travel dates, and you can book now through November 12. The discounts apply to trips booked between December 1, 2026, and March 14, 2027.
Many routes are included in the sale, including a trip from Oakland to Seattle for under $100. The one-way trip can be as low as $91 for the route up the West Coast.
There are some restrictions on the sale, which only apply to Coach and Acela Business tickets. Plus, some blackout dates apply, including December 18, 2026 – January 3, 2027 and February 12, 2027 – February 15, 2027. Other notable routes on sale include trips from Chicago to Los Angeles, which are as low as $128. Plus, you can go from Portland, Oregon, to Seattle for $28.
